ARCHAEOLOGICAL SCIENCES
Archaeological Sciences is the term that describes the application of scientific techniques to archaeology.   It requires an interdisciplinary collaboration which consists of various fields of science. However it can be considered as a  science of its own and defined as Archaeometry.

Main interests of archaeometry are as follow:

Dating methods for relative or absolute chronology
Artefact studies such as;
Provenance
Technology of production
Usage
Remote Sensing and geological surveys for prediction of an archeaological site
Conservation sciences, involving material studies
archaeological sciences

Provenance analysis using trace element concentrations in various artifacts are one of the main interests of archaeology. Trace element analysis can be utilized for archaeometric studies and is a helpful tool for fingerprinting any material.  A recent project is the provenance analysis in limestone figurines obtained in Emecik, Datça excavations (Aegean region, Turkey) using trace element concentrations including REE; ICP-MS and ICP-OES are being used in this study.
